This privacy notice explains how JA Digital, operated by Jake Agnew, uses the personal information you share when you visit this website or contact me. It is written under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018).
Who I am
JA Digital is a web design and digital marketing business run by me, Jake Agnew, in Plymouth, UK. It is not a limited company. For the information described here, I am the controller: the person who decides how and why it is used.
Privacy contact: jake@jadigitalagency.com
What I collect
- Contact form: your name, email address, the service you choose, the budget range if you give one, and what you write in your message (for example your business name or website).
- Email: your email address, name and anything you send me, including attachments.
- WhatsApp: your phone number, WhatsApp profile name and the messages and files you send.
- Instagram direct messages: your Instagram username, the profile details visible to me, and the messages and files you send.
- Website use: technical information, such as your IP address and browser details, that Cloudflare processes to deliver this website and keep it secure (see Cookies below).
Please don’t send sensitive information (for example health details) unless it is needed for your enquiry.
How I use it, and why
- To read and reply to your enquiry, whichever way you contact me. Lawful basis: legitimate interests (answering people who contact me about my services).
- To prepare a quote or proposal you ask for, and to agree work. Lawful basis: steps taken at your request before entering into a contract.
- To carry out and manage work we agree. Lawful basis: contract.
- To keep basic business records, for example for tax. Lawful basis: legal obligation and legitimate interests.
- To keep this website secure and working, and to block spam. Lawful basis: legitimate interests.
I won’t add you to a mailing list or send you marketing. If that ever changes, I’ll ask for your consent first, and you can withdraw it at any time.
Who else handles your information
I use these providers to run the business. They handle information on my behalf, or as independent controllers under their own terms:
- Cloudflare hosts this website and protects it from attacks and abuse.
- Web3Forms (US-hosted) is used only to deliver contact-form enquiries to jake@jadigitalagency.com.
- Google Workspace provides my business email.
- WhatsApp and Instagram (both Meta) carry messages you send me there.
Some of these providers may transfer information outside the UK. Where they do, they rely on safeguards recognised under UK data protection law, such as adequacy regulations or approved contract clauses. I don’t sell your information.
How long I keep it
I keep enquiries only for as long as I need them to deal with your enquiry and any work that follows. Client records are kept for as long as the work and the law require (for example, financial records for tax purposes). Messages on WhatsApp and Instagram are also subject to those apps’ own retention settings.
Cookies
This website doesn’t use cookies for analytics or advertising, and there is no Google Analytics or Meta Pixel on it. Cloudflare Web Analytics records cookieless, aggregate page-view statistics. Cloudflare may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from attacks; this doesn’t track you across other websites. You can clear cookies in your browser at any time.
Your rights
You have the right to:
- ask for a copy of your personal information
- ask me to correct it
- ask me to delete it
- object to, or ask me to restrict, how I use it
- ask for it to be transferred to you or someone else (where this applies)
- withdraw your consent, if I ever rely on consent
To make a request, email jake@jadigitalagency.com. I’ll reply within one month, and I may need to confirm who you are first.
Complaints
If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your information, please tell me first so I can try to put it right. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint (opens in a new tab) or on 0303 123 1113.
Changes
If anything changes, I’ll update this notice and the “Last updated” date at the top.
